WORKSHOP: Verbal Behaviour Approaches to Teaching Children
with Autism: an Introduction

Many parents and providers see Verbal Behaviour Protocols within Applied Behaviour Analysis as the current best practice for effectively teaching language to children with A.S.D. Advantages cited for Verbal Behaviour approaches include: more spontaneous and functional language, enhanced generalization and application, decreases in escape/avoidance behavior, and a better ability in conceptual analysis.

This workshop will provide an overview and an introduction to the main components of the Verbal Behaviour Protocol within Applied Behaviour Analysis as currently used in programming for children with Autism.

The workshop will introduce, explain, and demonstrate the main components of the Verbal Behaviour Protocol including:

  • Skinner's analysis of Verbal Behavior and Verbal Operants
  • Pairing
  • Natural Environment Teaching and Intensive Teaching
  • The ABLLs: Advantages & Disadvantages
  • Establishing operations, Motivation and Manding
  • Interspersed Trials
  • Errorless learning
  • Data collection procedures
  • Teaching to Fluency

Cost

Early registration until October 17th - $100.00
Regular registration and walk-ins - $125.00 (limited availability)
